Default Key not detected warning...

Was driving over to the tint shop today when a message popped up on the display saying "Key not detected, is it still in the car" when it was right in my pocket...then it went off.

Anyone have this happen to them?

Any chance you had the key fob in a pocket with a cell phone? That can cause interference causing the message you saw.

Key was in my front pocket and the phone in the center console so yeah...only inches apart.

I've had may cars with smart keys and the Audi is the only one that has given me any issues. About once a week, I can't start the car with the key not detected message--key is in pocket. I have to try several times and eventually the key will be detected and car will start. did a search here and seems it's a common problem.

Happened twice since I got the car in Oct. One was the first time I tried to use the 2nd key, had to do the hold key next to center console sensor to get the car started. It just happened for the 2nd time a couple days ago.Got it car and it won't start and give the hold key to center console message. I just hit lock and unlock a couple times (which works) and then I can start the car.
