Do I need Audi Connect subscription to update maps?

When I log into My Audi and go to Connect Services, I do not see map updates. But, I have not subscribed to Connect

Have you the SD card based navigation system? If so you cannot update maps online..

thank you for the reply. I have 2 empty SD card slots and a SIM card slot (with card in it) in the car. The nav is working but the display seems outdated

I see that with SD card slots that I should be able to download maps on line, but when I go to my Audi and connect services I see only 2 icons. There is no option for downloads of any kind. Is there a website that I can go to that has most recent maps?

Try this message. In fact, that entire thread is worth reading to make sure you use a compatible CD card or USB drive.

Thanks, but I can't even get to a place to download the maps to put them on a compatible SD card. I don't see downloads as an option when I go to Connect Services under MyAudi

If I go to MyAudi, login and then to show vehicle details then to features, I can then scroll down to map update and download from there. I am using windows 10 with Chrome by the way.

Thank you. I must be overlooking something. I'm using Chrome. When I go to the link below after logging in, there is no option for show vehicle details. I get Overview, Vehicle, Service, Audi Life and Audi Preferred Benefits as options. None of these show a "vehicle details" option anywhere.
