You only need three hands...
No, no trick known. In my experience doing them what is important is get it started on one side/edge and have those long ears engaged Then try to hold it face on as firmly to the caliper side as you can while prying on the inner edge (side toward hub) with a flat screwdriver. That is, the last place to get it seated are those two protrusions that lock into the caliper indents near the corners of the main cover/plate area. If you let up on that face on/side pressure before it seats at those protrusions it will just fly off again.
