I have a confession to make,

I have 650 miles on the car A6 2.7. I have gone past the 4000 break in but not fully floored but on a gradual climb up to about 4600. Haven't used full throttle but still, feel quilty lol. Also I dont think I have heard the turbo's at all yet, no whine has been detected, driving like this is DRIVING me crazy!!!! AAAAAWWWWWWWW. I say prayers every night and finish (with a new one) please give me the strength and will power to obey and honor the break in period!! LOL. One last thing after I park it I notice small wet spot under car. I'm assuming it is normal A/C activity(it's water). And only occurs when A/c has been running.

Don't fret I did it two or three time without scorching the engine.

And I did it after that small oil leak I had in the first 2 1/2 weeks. So it didn't cause the leak. And if I had to bet, I bet Audi runs these engines at redline to test 'em before they make 'em. Since becoming invloved with Audiworld.com I have heard several different rpm guidelines for break in. From dealers, owners, so called experts. You're fine, but don't get in the habit of doing it regularly I guess is the best advice. :-)

Sounds like you're doing exactly...

what is talked about in the owners manual - 0-600 miles, easy does it. 600-1000 miles gradually increase to maximum (both engine and speed). I've never seen an engine speed (RPM) maximum vs. break-in mileage, although 4-5K has been my max. Did I miss something?

Got 750 miles on mine and am beginning to have a little fun with it with nice toasty oil temperature.
