Ding and Scratch on left side of 4.2 grill. Hints suggestions?

Ding and Scratch on left side of 4.2 grill. Hints suggestions?
I found a small scratch and ding on the left side of the grill. I have had paintless dent repair done and I am going to take it to the repair shop this week to see if they can get the ding out.
The hood is aluminum on the 4.2. Is it easier or harder to get dings out of aluminum? Are there any precausions in working on aluminum?
For the scratch, I am going to see if I can get a chip repair shop to fix that. It is through the clear coat and into the paint. I was thinking of trying one of those color scratch repair kits from the store. Has anybody used one and can you offer suggestions. Does it really work? Does it wash of the next time you wash the car. My car is Ming blue, so the scratch is more noticible.
