If you need to speed in So Cal

I drove up to the Santa Ynez Valley and back on Saturday just to put some miles on the car, and lemme tell you it's like the autobahn on the 101 once you get west of Santa Barbara. Now I like to drive faster than most, but the people in the slow lane were doing 80 and were getting passed by folks doing 90+! And it seems that the new unofficial speed limit on the rest of the freeways is 75. And this is everyone, old folks in beaters, tiny women in monster SUVs, and all manner of Euro racers.

Oh, and while you're up there of course you should stop at several of the wineries and sample their wares. Just don't drive drunk!

I live just west of St. Louis on Highway 44....if your not doin 80, you toast

Nice and wide 3-4 lanes each way...no traffic, and no on / off ramps because it runs through a state park.

95 - 100 for 7 miles every day.

Just look out for cops around Pea Soup Andersons and SLO. No sense of humor;-)

CHP has now done that almost everywhere

but yes, wouldn't surprise me.

Oh, in the new Motor Trend there's a ridealong with a CHP officer

They try and sex it up by promising "how to speed and get away with it" or somesuch. But all they really offer in the article is, only speed when you can get away with it, but when you get pulled over, behave nicely and admit fault. If you have a radar detector, keep it hidden while using because it upsets the coppers. Startling information!
