Window problem, can anyone help?
I have a strange problem with my drivers side window...it goes up about half way then stops and goes back down. If I keep pushing the button up I can eventually get it to go up. Also if I assist it by pushing up on the glass with my hand (from the outside only) it will go up with no problem. Any ideas on what this could be? Its been doing this for about 3 months and the motor still seems to work fine.

My A6 was doing something similar except it was all the windows. I was told by the dealership that it might be the window lock button. They said they had issues with the button or switch. My car only did a couple of times and hasn't done it in a long time. Hope it helps

2nd that- common problem w/ OEM window giudes- buy new ones from dealer
they take about 1 hour to put on- if you are not all thumbs- follow the instructions in the forum...that a62.74eco links to. Not too bad to do- I did it in the fall- window guides are only a few bucks from the dealer...

Get some aerospace 303
Clean the rubber strips as well as the channels.
Spray it along the channels and use a rag wrapped around a medium flat blade screwdriver.
Dirt that accumulates in the channels causes a ton of drag. My windows were at the point where I needed to pull up on the glass while a friend hit the window switch to close them.
The method I used above solved the problem.
I am convinced that a little PM on the channels would help solve the broken window guides.
My A6 is a 2001 w /107K-- original guides!
