Default 99-01 A8 and S8 recall notice
just got mine in the mail. "audi has found that the locking cover for the fuel sending unit housing could become distorted under certain conditions. should this happen, fuel vapors could escape into the atmosphere. a vapor leak illuminates the vehicle's dashboard MIL light."

this may exmpalin my check engine light and "bank 1 & 2 too lean" codes.

any other 99-01's get their recall notices yet?

Default 17538/17536 codes
That would be great if that took care of this problem. I get a CEL, then it goes off, then it comes back on. I'm taking the car in to a non-dealer repair shop Tuesday. Wonder if he can do recall work and get paid by AoA?

Possibly, but I am not 100% sure on that. The fix is pretty quick and easy. If anything if Audi did pay for it it would prob take a while.

recall notice has an address to send the bill for 3rd party costs (i'd take it to the dealer... )

Default 2001 A8L, Got my recall notice last week. Does this problem have anything to do with the car
getting less than "normal" gas mileage? I get 10-11mpg in San Francisco, and 17 highway. Never had a check engine light, and dealer says everything is OK!!
