Auxillary heater for cold weather
Has anyone run across a description of the auxillary heater that has a vent position in the under engine acoustic panel?
There are references in the service literature, but, I found nothing in the electrical or mechanical sections. Perhaps it is a Northern Europe only device. But with our recent cold weather, I'm thinking.....
Could it be some fuel fired device to prewarm the coolant?
Or perhaps a diesel engine exclusive.
I would like to install one of the whole car warming systems such as are available to the european market. Warm cabin, warm engine coolant, warm seats. All on a programable timer, just unplug the cord as you approach the vehicle. The fuel savings justify payback in short order. Well, perhaps not this year.

Is that electric? Does anyone use a remote starter? The other one I found is "Blue Heat" ...
It uses your fuel to fire a tiny furnace that will heat the car without starting the engine. Warm engine and cabin and such. They do recomend running the vehicle for at least as long as you have had the system on because it does use some batery power. They were originaly designed for big tractor trailers that aren't allowed to idle in many places any more. Acording to the local accessory shop, the blue heat system is about $1400 though.<ul><li><a href="http://www.webastoshowroom.com/blueheat/">toasty toasty</a></li></ul>
