What happens when a clutch buys the farm?

What are the indications and the implications?

Car no go. Slipping, chattering, perhaps burning smell, maybe noise.

If you can't disengage it, it could be in the hydraulic actuator/system. If you have been doing banzii starts, disk may be worn or cooked.

What symptoms have you noticed? How do you drive? How many miles on car?

Sometimes you can shift while the engine is running without using the clutch and it won't grind....

but it also won't go anywhere. SmallTTs assesment is pretty dead on. -Doug
