Default Clutch Feel

With just over 1000 miles on the ODO I noticed that when I depress the clutch I feel and hear a slight mechanical click or thump. This happens both when I press and release the clutch. The position varies at which this happens when the clutch is actuated and it does not matter if the car is running. Has anyone else noticed this? Next time your in your car see if your clutch pedal reacts the same. It's possible I have just not noticed before. Thanks!!

I had the same thing right when i got the car. It happened after a 1000 miles as well. you might not want to hear this, but i amon my third clutch and flywheel. I don't drive the car hard, and have never dumped the clutch. I was told by audi of bernardsville (where i bought) that it was a defective dual mass flywheel. they replaced it, but didn't do a good jog, so i had to go for another at 5000 miles. also, they told me that when you shut the car off after driving it, you could hear a rattle in the bellhousing. i stuck my head under the car while my brother started it and shut it down many times. i could hear the noise. this noise was caused by the rattle of the flywheel. it is made up of a sandwich of metal and rubber. the bond between the materials had broken down, thereby causing the parts to rattle. this intern destroyed the clutch. when they took all the parts out i looked at them, and it wasn't pretty. the clutch was worn unevenly and the flywheel as well. good luck. they had the car for 4 weeks because the parts where in deutchland. so, i got to drive a 4.2 A6. that wasn't so bad.

Default Re: Clutch Feel

My car had a clicking/thumping noise from 5500 - 8500 miles or so.

Only when the engine was from 1000-2000 RPMS, anytime I would push the clutch in it would click/stick at the bottom just a bit on both the depression and uptake. Just as I started getting really paraniod about it it went away.

Of course, the service guys at the dealer claim it's nothing. I'm at 11000 miles now, and it hasn't appeard again.
