XM Antenna Install on Roadster
I purchased the Roady2 which came with the micro antenna. I didn't want to run the antenna cable all the way from the trunk and through the car if at all possible.
So I tried the location pictured below.
The micro antenna has a really strong magnet to hold it in place.
It works great and signal strength is excellent. It was easy to tuck the wire into the space between the windshield glass and the rubber molding, a very clean and easy install.
I ran the wire around the winshield then into the engine bay.
The plug is fed into the cab through the grommet in the fire wall, that people have used to get the tubing from the engine to their vacuum gauges. This grommet also exists in the 3.2 firewall'
At the moment I am only using the fm modulator and the sound is very acceptable. I have ordered the soundgate cable and adapter so I can hardwire it into the back of the HU. I also need to find the right spot to permanently mount the Roady2. More pics to follow when installation is complete.
