BIW is the metal shell of the car, minus drivetrain, suspension, interior, wiring & glass

Default And the remaining 31% steel is primarily in the rear to help with weight distribution.

From Donovan's pics earlier this week it looks like the battery is in the trunk as well.

Default thx....thought that's what it was but never heard anyone use the term.

BTW, if they have a whopping 48% weight savings that Motor Trend claims for the BIW but only 200 lbs less in total weight of the car, it says how bloated cars have become with all of the other "stuff".

My math says the BIW is ~200 lbs and the rest of the car is 3k'ish lbs? Is that right? I'm basing this on 48% less of 400 is around the 200 lbs they are claiming as the weight savings (rounding the 48 to 50%). How does all the other stuff add up to 3k lbs?

That just means there will be a 100 lb weight hanging off the bumper. :-)
