Burning Oil 1qt per 1K

Yes, i guess AOA explains that its perfectly normal, anyone running a better oil? Im currently using Mobil1 Extended life 15w50 i have 93k miles on an AMU. I believe Mobil1 has a reputation for burning up faster than any other synthetic out there. Any other suggestions?
Royal Purple?
Castrol Syntec?
Asmoil?

Im just tired of topping off every 1k

hmmm, I've never had to top off between changes. Using mobil 1 w/ 77K on the car.

no issues at 52K.. Chrysler 300M uses that oil...1qt/5K miles >>

however, at 86K she's burning a bit either through rings or guides.

MYou could be near a ring or valve job as you should not use 1qt / 1K (unless it's $.80/qt break in oil).
Any smell either hard on throttle or just off throttle?

Chances are you're sucking it, not burning it...>>

1.8T's are pretty durable and not known for oil burning issues. What does happen though is the PCV system goes to hell and allows oil to be sucked in through the intake pipe. Either the PCV or one of the other check valves could be responsible. Pull off the hose at the end of the metal charge pipe on the passenger side front of the engine compartment. Look for a telltale oil residue...Chances are you have a fair amount of oil puddled in your intercoolers as well....

Hey, my 02 225 bone stock no consumtion at all between changes at 4 thousand mile intervals always Castrol Syntech. I don't think oil consumption is generally a problem on our cars....but often, VW-Audi says one quart per thousand is tolerable. Go figure....
