Is my Clutch Going Bad and If So How much Are Normal Repairs

I have a 2001 Audi TT 225 with about 47k miles. Occasionally when I floor it in fifth or sixth gear the engine will immediately rev from 3k to 6k w/o the car accelerating. The gear accelerates fine in 1st - 4th gear but has issues in 5th and 6th.

Of course this new issue happened right after having to replace the timing belt, serpentine belt, brakes and water pump.

sounds like it. fix it soon or you'll damage the flywheel as well (if it isn't already)

Mine has been doing the same thing for over 40,000 miles. ->

I haven't been able to afford the upgraded components yet, so I have been real careful to not let it slip excessively.

I was afraid that was gonna be the answer. The Audi dealership quoted me approx 3k to fix the clutch and this is after spending over 3500 to fix my other issues plus get all new tires.

Hmmmm what to do; i just had to trade an aviator grey on a newer one....
