When working on complex, modern cars, like ours, it's important to use the right tools
Fitting this new fuel line from the pump to the filter was more difficult than I thought.
First of all, the local Audi dealer did not have the part in stock, but the prefix code, 1J0 is that for a Jetta, and the local VW dealer had one.
I had to loosen the tank strap and a tank bolt to wedge open the gap between the tank and the frame to get the hose through this "bump" in the tank here.
This is above the spot where the filter rests.

The hose is the black one here on the fuel pump.
I used a bent coat hanger to get from the fuel pump to the top of the gap.
I pushed the wire in here at the left of the hole.
I had made a hook on the end, then from under the car, I tied a piece of string on the end of the wire to tie to the new fuel line, to pull it through.
I pulled the wire out from the top of the pump, and the string was attached.
I tied the string to the end of the hose at the top of the pump here, and fed it down to the left as far as I could.
This hose is not very flexible, and both ends are at right angles to the hose, soo fishing it was a chore.
I used a big screwdriver to push down on the tank from the top here at the fuel pump, and reached around with my other arm to pull the string from the bottom to fish the hose through.
Wow, what an ordeal.
I thought I was gonna hafta flat-bed it to the dealer.
