Dear God the SMELL!!!
Folks, I calling out, hoping there is an angel-expert somewhere who who can figure out my problem.
Here it goes... A couple of months ago a moldy/mildew smell began filling my 2002 225Q Roaster.
Did a bit of water probably get in it sometime, either from rain, wet feet or the like?
Probably.
Has it been really hot/humid this summer, especially in the street, where I park my car?
Yep.
OK, but saying all that, it should NOT smell like a fifth graders locker -- it it dank.
Is there some hose, drain, ANYTHING that could be causing this problem? I've had the car detailed. I've steam cleaned it myself. I've covered everything with mold remover and still I can't get rid of the smell. (The smell is either emanating from the ragtop or the floor...honestly, I can't tell now..and I fear it has soaked into everything, making it harder to find the source.)
So wondering..
Any one know if any hose, drain, ANYTHING that could be causing this problem, not related to the rain?
If it is rain/leakage, does anyone have any detailing tips for doing hardcore work? bleach? plutonium?
Any ideas?

Sounds like your drains are clogged...>
YOu need to clean them out. Not sure exactly where they are on the Roadster, but look between the top and the body...Follow the drainage rail..
Same thing can happen up front resulting in a wet front floor..

Thanks, but does anyone have any idea how to drain these plugs? I haven't a clue, really.
I appreciate any and all suggestions.
(P.s. It is NOT coming from the AC vents. That I know for sure.)

You may be able to find>>>
the leak by running a water hose across the whole car and look for dripping or wet carpeting...
One other option would be to park the car in the sun, turn on the AC and set it on recirculate to get rid of moisture...let it run for a bit..
Lastly, go to your local marine shop or RV center...they have plastic containers of stuff that looks like moth *****(but does not smell like them) that help to dry out interiors and remove mold smells....

Remove screws on rear half of passenger fender skirt and clean out any debris. If that area
gets full of soil, drain gets clogged and rain water will flow onto the cabin air filter.
Actually, I'm not sure if this is the case on TT but it definitely is for VW Jetta. Check it out and report back.
