cooling question. On the track, at 60 degrees ambient, the needle stayed
At 75 degrees, it was a tick above in 5th gear, 110+ mph. Seemed to cool off a bit, down to 12 o'clock on lower speed sections of the track.
Last summer at 95 degrees is was near the top of the range.
Is this "normal" for high loads? 5th gear
Does it imply a funky water pump? (replaced 20k miles ago, now at 85k.) Shop claimed it was a quality german unit. I don't know that it has a metal impeller.
Some coolant was replaced at the time, but I don't know that it was "flushed." The reservoir looks clean for what that's worth.
Audi advisor speculates it could be a bad impeller. Recommends starting with a coolant flush. Is there a garden hose attachment that works well for this?
In my jeep, I just dump the coolant. Replace with flushing solution. Run the engine. Dump the solution. Replace with water. Run the engine. Dump it. Replace with coolant.
Is that the way to do it with the TT?
Or do I pay the dealer $150?
