Pothole fun
Hit the wheel-eating monster last night going to the store. The beast appeared out of no-where (in an unlit section of a state highway where they are doing bridge repair overhead.) Took out both left side rims ... but the Blizzac tires are OK. Discount tire in MSP checked the tires/rims for no charge. 2 rims are on the way as these were after market rims. One call to the state's Dept of Transportation office ranting about the damage and the Atty General clerk for the state called back with a form to fill out and send in with actual receipts attached for reimbursement. Sounds tooooo easy. We'll see. (And Discount tire does road force balance for $18 a tire. Kim took a shot ;-) when I posted a $75 cost to have the tires balanced last fall. It's actually $72 plus tax)

I hit a pothole in Kentucky in a then new Audi A8 with the optional wheels. . .
. . .it was 1997 -- letters, no lawyers, later the damage was verified and the claim accepted.
Drum roll -- check came for two new tires and one wheel and an all wheel alignment. Check amount: $250! Wah Wah! Somehow, I don't recall now, the KDOT knew I had $250 deduct on my auto policy. They knew the compreshensive portion would cover the amount over $250 -- net net, my out of pocket was zero and luckily my premiums did NOT rise!
