Anyone with 1.8T skills.

Yes, I know, wrong forum, but I trust people here more....Right?

Anyways, today the Passat starts idleing horribly, lost power, feels like it's running on three cylinders, check engine light is flashing. Car is still drivable, although not very well.

Coil Pack???

I've heard they are notorious for going out, but anyone got any insight into this. Also, I've heard they're expensive. Cost anyone? If anyone has any insight I'd appriciate the help. I have no way to scan codes for misfire so no go there. TIA!

yep, definitely sounds like coil pack failure symptoms...

...but coil pack failure is for 2000+ model year vag cars I thought?

See that's what I thought too. I've also heard ignition amplifier or even a simple plug change. We'll see :-)

Don't think so. That stopped at 50.
