Default Junkyard fun results!(sorta long)

Today was a funfilled day at the local junkyards around Fort Wayne, IN. I needed to find just two things, a coolant resevoir and a relay for my drivers side headlight. I went back to my old friend(grey audi 4000 in the pics earlier) for the coolant resevoir, easy enough! Seems like somebody else had been there, springs and front struts were gone. But, there were not any headlight relays to be found! So, I figured Id stop at the dealer on my way to another yard. I asked how much the relay would be, but it didnt show up on any of the diagrams for my car, odd. I asked Mike, the fabulous Audi tech who works on my car, and he said it was just an 85 thing he guessed. He wasnt sure why no other models had them. BTW, the piece im talking about is right after the connector for the lights, its round and oblong. So, after schmoozing with the tech as he worked on a 5000, I headed to another yard, where Audi's were plentiful last time I was there. There had been a couple of additions since I had be there. A nice 87 5000S was placed there, and nothing really had been done to it, so i dismantled the interior to get the original radio out. Also, I found service records in the car, looks like it had about 2000 worth of engine work done to it a year or so ago! Looked like it was in great shape. Also, I found an 81 4000S Diesel, which was interesting, i nabbed the owners manual from it, couldnt get the hood open. From a coupe, I found a OEM jack, i was really pleased to find one of these, my car doesnt have one. Just some other odds and ends that i picked up were some badgings, 4rings, that sort of stuff. The 5000 wagon that was there last time has been rummaged through. But the newer one, besidies the console that i took apart, seems to be in OK condition in the engine compartment, one of the door handles is missing, and the rear bumper is off. Anyway, that harness-connector for my lights had a part number on it, so i went back to the dealer and they can get one for me, for like 6 bucks. Now I know NOT to put those fake xenon's in my car! Ill do it when i get Blau's harness. Any questions or comments about what i saw, email me or put up a post! Thanks all!

Default Hey!

Did that 87 5000S have a drivers side headlight in good condition? I need one badly as mine has a rock chip in it. Let me know if it did!

Hmm, ya know what, now that i think of it, it was an earlier one, as it had 2 seperate lights, BUT, if the lighting is the same for the sedan and wagon for 87, you may be in luck. The wagon still had both intact I believe. I think it only had the headlight, not the turn signal part.

Default Well...

if one of those 5000's have the sealed one piece units, LMK. I just need the drivers side one in good condition.

How are thier prices at that junkyard? I'd probably not want to spend more than $30. That's what I can get them for around here if I could ever find one that isn't messed up...

Yeah, the wagon one was one piece, sealed. I paid only 25 bucks for the jack, 81' 4000S owners manual, original oem radio, set of rings, and an "Audi" badge! So, the headlight shouldnt cost too much, at least I hope not.

I need the drivers side N/A headlight.
