Garage vs. Driveway, does it really matter???
I live in a condo with a detached one car garage. Because I leave before my woman in the morning I park my new A4 in the driveway. I planned on letting her keep her Saturn in the garage until next winter when it snows/ice. I don't want to have to clean it off and potentially damage the paint, etc.
Am I harming my car in any way by leaving it outside versus putting it in the garage? The car is black/ebony leather so I know it will get really hot in the summer. Will this dry out the leather in the long run or cause UV damage?
Thanks for your feedback. I don't even consider myself a "detailing noob" anymore. I'm cleaning my car weekly and following TROY's detailing routine religiously now (even if it is an expensive habit).

I HAVE to park mine outside, parents take the 2 car garage, but I live in Fla so no snow, just rain
On my old B5, there was never a problem... yeh, it would get hot but I'd cool it down and there would be no issue. Audi puts each and every A4 through INTENSE heat testing at Ingolstadt so I would not worry too much. A garage is obviously better but if you can't spare it, oh well. Most people in FL fill their garages up with worthless crap and leave their $50,000 cars outside in the hot sun- go figure. Of course, we don't have snow or ice, just the occasional rain storm and lots of sun... tinting helps with that.

The car keeps way better in the garage. Cold or hot is bad, but cold-start is tough on engine.
If you have a heated garage, use it. Mom's Passat is 7 y/o and still smells and looks new-heated garage.

In the winter (Canada) heated parking leads to alot of rust.
Better to keep the salt cold vs melting all that crap every day onto the metal. If the car is clean I park in the garage, but for those few weeks or months that it is a salt bath, I park it in the driveway.
I even leave it unwashed for those really cold months, as long as it stays cold the salt doesn't work at the metal as fast.

I park mine in the driveway (similar situation to mykel8)....
I do hate having to clean the car off every time it snows, but I do believe that the car does not rust as quickly as it would if it were in the garage (being warmer). My biggest problem is with the two trees that hang over the car. As you can imagine lots of crap falls from the trees in the spring and fall. As for the snow, I just gently remove most of the snow, I leave a slight layer on the car and let it either blow or melt off. Havn't had any snow brush scratches yet!
