Default Vendors Claims, beware..

I have noticed some Vendors locally are claiming excessive power gains from mods.

Before you buy, are these claims verified and do they come with some sort of guarantee?

If there is a comparison offered, is is a comparison of true standard mode with nothing wrong with the car to start with..

Some of the Claim given are like
30KW (40HP) on exhaust only on a S3
25KW (34HP) on chip upgrade on R32 which proved later got 7KW(9hp)

So be careful of what you buy and see if you get some sort or guaranteed gains.

WOW, that's what I mean, I'm sure that Lucas has paperwork from the dyno that shows the evidant lack of gain!!!

For the guy with the R32.....SWEET car, and I'd go get my money back!!

And I agree with Lucas, seriously people, you sweat blood and tears for your toy/machine, check and validate the info (or lack of info) that is being spun to you. Make sure you make an informed choice, really get to know your car, as it will result in heaps o fun and most importantly, SATISFACTION with the choices made and the fun gained!!!

Have fun with QUATTRO!!

Default I agree.

I have started to look at a chip upgrade.

Price & performance vary.

why are some chips sold as much as $3000?

do they really make double the power of a $1500 chip? or is it just over marked up pricing?

But the point of some form of real gain over stated claim will be something i will look at.

If something is more expensive, it is not necessarily a better product.

There are several chips available locally, GIAC, APR, Wett, Oettinger, MTM. Send me an email and i'll give you some more info off the forums.

C'mon don't be so naive. I would never believe a dyno shown to me by one company claiming another's product is inferior. I can show you dyno posts of a GIAC chip producing less power on the dyno than a STOCK chip. Did I rubbish GIAC when this happened? No, I tried to explain the anomaly. I'm getting really fed up with the very poor form being used by tuners in Australia to try and make a competitor look bad, rather than trying to focus on their own product.

Default I do agree partly..

I was a bit dubious as to APR's claim about the Turbo Back exhaust system for the S3 which was originally claimed to produce 32kw @ the wheels for a chipped S3 (dyno charts to prove). Those gains then proved to be 14.7kw @ the wheels on a full $4000 exhaust (also with dyno charts from a user who brought the exhaust)

The exhaust , although gorgeous to look at and very very well constructed is just far too expensive.. Or even just plain excessive. I was quite disappointed to read the final output from the exhaust

Same goes for the R32, but that said I never expected a chip to give impressive gains from the R32 anyway, its just not possible no matter who the tuner is.

Oh well, thats why its good never to rush into these things and fully do your research, thats the best advice anyone can give.
