Fuel waring light not working
My fuel warning light doesnt light up anymore, even after the needle is below the red-line, worst is, i can only fill up to 40 litres even when the needle is below the red-line.
Took the car ('97 a4 1.8 non-turbo) to Audi Centre Brisbane. First the service said there is no fuel warning light, which is crap, 'coz i've seen it light up once before. I told him that, then he said, to get it fixed, i need to replace the whole instrument panel, which will cost anywhere between $3000-$4000.
Surely there's a way to fix it without spending that much money!!??
anyone out there know how/where. I'm here in brisbane btw.
thanks
So if you can only get 40 litres in, then maybe your fuel sensor is wrong/busted. With a 1.8 NA you should be able to go 550kms before the light comes on.
Maybe try carrying around a jerry can and run the thing to 600kms on a tank and see if the light comes on.
I've been resetting the trip clock to 0 everytime i fill up and relying on that.
But i think you're on the ball when you said that my fuel sensor might be busted. any chance of getting that fixed without having to pay $3000-$4000?
thanks again
