Have an issue going on with my transmission/shift linkage etc..Exactly what im driving is an 03 TT Quattro Coupe 6 speed w/32k on it and no mods.

problem: basically i am stuck in 4th gear and can not get out of it regardless of where i shift the gear selector. I can move the shifter in all slots, even reverse and the lights come on. Yet i am in 4th still. Only way i can be in neutral is with the clutch disengaged.

How i came upon this problem is i was coming up on a left turn into my work and went to put it in neutral did the movements with the clutch/shifter, let off on the clutch and it was still in gear.

What i have checked/done so far. I have done the steps to "adjust" the linkage via the Bentley manual and that did nothing. I put the car on the lift to inspect the linkage at the selector box and cables, all visibly good. With someone in the inside and me looking at the transmission you can see the transmission going through the movements on top.

From what i have gathered from other sites/opinions is that it could be the forks, or synchros on the inside of the transmission. Was wondering if anyone on here had some input or experience with removing the transmission etc.. I have not been able to find a write up or anything so far on this subject and want to know what I'm getting into. If there are any questions anyone has let me know, ill answer them best i can. I will be putting it back on the lift today to start taking it apart. Thanks for any help.
