A6 S-Line wheel offset?

So I just got my first Audi and since I live in CO I def want to put some snow shoes on it. 17" tires are drastically more expensive than 16" tires. From searching I see that the biggest problem is getting the rim to fit over the caliper. Has anyone actually found a specific offset that will clear the caliper or is it more of a "trial and error" sorta deal with all the different rim designs?

S-Line wheels are ET43 offset for both 17 and 18 inch versions of the wheels.

First, unless you have the HP2 calipers, its likely not an issue.

Next, offset is not something one simply decreases until wheels fit. Changes to offset change steering geometry. Keep that in mind. Going 5-10mm is OK, but more is not so good an idea.

3rd offset is only part of the issue - spoke shape is the other. So there is always some trial and error.

First find out what calipers you have. Not HP2? No problem for 16s.
