Engine Differences from 04 to 09 S4 4.2l?

Engine Differences from 04 to 09 S4 4.2l?
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum so I'd like to start by saying hello and thank you in advance for everyone's input. I recently purchased a 2005.5 S4 and I believe the timing chain jumped a tooth. One day I stalled it and when I started it back up it made a horrible noise. I borrowed a friends borescope to take a look and I have some serious damage. Looking into the spark plug holes I can see that one of my pistons is damaged so badly I can now see the crankshaft. So now i need a long block. Anyway I was wondering what the differences were between the 4.2l from 2004 to 2009. I've found a couple on eBay and they are from 2004's and the sellers said they do not interchange with my year, but others say 2004-2009.

Ive found a few Ebay listings that claim there are 2004 engines thru vin 200000 and then 2004 to 2009 from vin 200001. Any truth to this?
I saw this listing on eBay. This place is actually about 30 miles from my house so I called them and the guy said it was not a direct interchange. I figured I could pick it up in person and save on shipping, but the listing says thru vin 200000 and the guy I spoke with said he thought it was for 2004 only. However he also said it might fit my year but he didn't think so.

The only major difference is, 2006 & up - torque converter 60:40 (rear/front) split and flywheel. There are a few minor differences with a few connecting vaccum lines, harness connectors, and (I beleive) master slave cylinder. Otherwise this should not stop you from purchasing or installing the 2004 B6 engine into B7.

I have since purchased a late model engine and am going through the rebuild/repair process. From what I've seen any S4 V8 should fit with minor changes to vacuum lines and coolant lines. All the other V8 cars have Timing belts and wont fit except for the few others that have direct injection (they have chains too) and the swap would be considerably more complex
