Default Bulletproof + Headup Display

Hello,

I'm from Brazil, and I have a bulletproof 2012 s-line A7, as you may know, bulletproof cars are very very usual in some cities here in Brazil...

The thing is, all the windows is very thick...

So, my question is, the head up display appears double on the window, as it's reflection can be seen in the "two layers" of the window... On the inside layer and on the outside layer...

Anyone can think in some way to workaround this?

Some pics...

Thanks...

See if you can ask someone who owns a military fighter jet..they tend to have the HUD option with bullet-proof windshields and it seems to work somehow.

On a serious note, is that an aftermarket addition where they add a second layer of glass to the OEM windows? I wonder if there's a small film you can put where the HUD projects that will limit the reflection on to the second layer of glass...
Sorry, can't help much with that issue.. Stay safe

Yes, this is aftermarket...

All the windows are removed and the new ones are installed...

They do a completely tear down on the car to install the bulletproof overlay and the windows...

The film is a good idea, will try it...

Thanks...

As I understand it, the standard windshield has two parallel layers of glass with a plastic membrane in the center. The HUD windshield has a tapered or wedge shaped plastic layer so the second image can not be seen by the driver.

You will have to find out from whoever makes the windshield if there is a HUD windshield available.

Is that just the glass? Is the rest of the car bullet proof as well?

Have you tried tilting the HUD? Maybe it will make a difference.

That will not make any difference. If that was a solution, Audi engineers would have done that at the original design phase instead of creating an expensive special windshield.
