CHP Ticket Question
Got nailed "speeding in excess of 100 mph" by a lovely CHP office on the 58- anyone know if CA tickets transfer to an out of state license (NM)? I heard they do not... What are my chances of being able to do traffic school for this one?

You coulda been arrested... be happy you were not!
I think 100 will prob be 2 points and no traffic school...
and i think it does transfer
your insurance might not like that tho

Traffic school no. Two points yes. Transfer, maybe.
Got nailed in Idaho and it didn't transfer to CA, but that was years ago.
58 between 101 and 33 is one of my favorite roads. Where'd you get nailed?

ALWAYS!!!!!
You have NOTING to lose in this case...
Look at it this way...
You CANT go to traffic school... you're getting TWO points as is... its going to be a HEFTY fine
So basically, if you go to court and the cop doesnt show up... you're good to go! Just a little wasted time.
IMO its ALWAYS worth at least 'showing up' to court. He shows up, you can say guilty before you talk to judge and its nothing additional.
OR, you could talk to them before hand...tell them $$ isnt an issue, your time is worth more then your $$ and POSSIBLY they raise your fine and dont hit you with a point
There are options... RESEARCH!

If you showed up in court to "fight" this ticket, you'd get worked pretty bad.
You were doing excess of 100MPH. You were doing it while TALKING ON THE PHONE. The officer citing you saw your V1 RADAR DETECTOR on your seat. Add these to the fact that taking it to court simply adds more bureaucratic cost to dealing with you. Going there would only put more fuel on the fire that is already your ***.
Trust me. No officer is going to "fail to appear" when it's regarding someone in your circumstances. And, when the cop appears, and your only argument is "I thought he wouldn't show up," no one is going to be happy.
Anyhow, you'll likely have to contest it in writing first, and they'll see that your contest is complete BS and throw it out before giving the chance to waste anyone's time and taxpayer money in court.
Not trying to be a jerk, but seriously - you got busted. Live and learn.
