Which engine does it have?
I just got my '87 4.2 258 running good with no leaks. It was leaking from the rear main, oil pan, carb, intake/exhaust and the valve cover. Caught fire as soon as the seller dropped it off from NC. I took it down, cleaned, painted and put all new gasket and hoses. Still would like to get rid of the carter carb one day but its running good so far. I'll post pic later on.
Anyway, I can help you get it together properly if you want to do the work yourself.

Re: Which engine does it have?
304 V-8 3 Speed Manual.
My problem is I have no where to do mechanical work myself.
Just wondering if a typical mechanic, at say a Pep Boys or even the Chevron in Dunwoody Village could do it reasonably, ie a tune-up and stop an oil leak.
This is tacky but, I may have my "single", no boy friend, drop dead georgeous, 24 yr old step-daughter, who has a job as a graphic designer at CEDARDOC at Ravinia, drive up with me in the CJ and see if any young mechanic, would let's say, fawn over her and I treat the Jeep like it's her's and go from there.

How far North are you?
I'm sure those chain mech can handle the job but for a piece of mind, I'd stick to a Jeep expert or someone with experience, say a mom and pops mech. North GA is full of Jeep retailers and such.
Where's the oil leak? As far as the tune ups go on these older cars, just clean the carbs, change the oil, and various intake and ignition parts. My space is used to having different cars on it being worked on.
