'08 A6 AMI/MMI does not recognize the new phone I've bought: A Samsung Galaxy (Android Phone) Skyrocket
Is this just a hopeless proposition?
I may be in big trouble...

If you haven't done so, turn on USB debug mode: Settings/Applications/Development/USB debugging.
That will make the phone look like a storage device (or two) to the USB host. Note that some Samsung devices (like my Galaxy S II) appear as two devices -- one for the phone's internal memory, the other for the external SD card inserted into the phone. I don't know what the AMI/MMI would do with that.

so this did not seem to work. i tried on and off of the debugging mode, and either way it did not work. I also tried on the notification screen to find the "connect USB" that I see when I plug into computer, and do not see this. Is it possible that my year/gen of MMI (2008/?gen) does not work with android phones and only iphones? this would be a serious bummer to me and I would cry.
Anyone who could offer any advice would be appreciated! Just want my car to "see" my android phone and play the music the way it did for the iPhone I had previously"
