Default What are you comparing to?

All 2002+ A6 installs are basically the same but without knowing what's on your list it's hard to say what you can skip or what you are missing.

Default Good point, I was sleeping when I wrote that question...sorry

I read the whole 2001 AR install and it seemed much less than plug and play.

So for an O4 AR;
1. Remove Symphony II
2. Insert connectors/adaptors
3. Adapt for speedo data to the head unit. (removing the cluster?)
4. GET yelled at from my CFO (wife) for spending $1500
5 Drink a beer and watch a DVD.

This seem right?

Default speed signal and reverse signal (optional..but recommended) are all you really need...

...just make sure your rnse harness is setup correctly.

also,
1) adding the upgraded sirius/xm module is plug/play in the trunk
2) your ar will have the MF steering wheel....and the integration with the oem BT module is "bad ***".

If you have the oem nav option in your car, you can easly tap into gala/speed and reverse signal in the trunk and not have to pull the cluster or kick panel trim.

...the hard part...is finding a unit for the C5. The are in high demand...and in short supply.

install was easy with the right harness. I did the RNS-E and XM module in about 3 hours.
