Uploading the Address Book: Alternate methods?
New to the forums, just upgraded to an A4 B7 w/ Nav+BT.
I happen to have one of the cursed phones (Blackberry 7130e) which Audi claims cannot upload its Addressbook to the car. This has already been discussed, there do not appear to be any ways of getting it to work.
My question is this: Are there any other clever methods for uploading the Addressbook? 3rd party Bluetooth device or laptop? CDROM or SD-card? VAG-COM? anyone? anyone?
TIA

there's no way to upload contacts to the RNS-E since it doesn't store them.
It reads them directly off your phone, unlike the MMI system in A6/Q7 that has a 'Directory' along with the phone's live 'Phonebook' that can store entries by itself for future use.
If your Blackberry is corporate-issued and managed by a Blackberry Enterprise Server, your admin may need to enable the Bluetooth policies for contact exchange.
You may also wish to check and see if you have the latest software/firmware for the RNS-E. If you post your version, I can let you know.
If the above doesn't resolve your issue, I'm afraid a new phone is in order.

Re: there's no way to upload contacts to the RNS-E since it doesn't store them.
Thanks for your help, I didn't realize that the RNS-E didn't have a local directory of some sort.
My RNS-E is HW index 072 and SW index 0150, which I believe is current. The phone is not corporate-issued, I triple-checked the Bluetooth security settings.
Yesterday I stopped by my dealer's service department (Sunset Audi in Beaverton, OR) and inquired about this. Someone actually pulled out an official-looking list of supported phones, my phone was listed, but did not have a check in the "download contacts" column... bummer!
That said, I love my phone and would never go back to Palm or Wince. The sound quality is *fantastic* with this car, people regularly comment on how clear and un-cellphone like I sound!
Thanks for helping me scratch that itch. I'll keep a look out for more info.

I *think* the 7290 I was playing with for a couple of weeks worked in the A4...not positive.

BlackBerry 7130e: Additional information
So I found two conflicting documents online, however non-overlapping.
Verizon document: <a href="http://support.vzw.com/pdf/BlackBerry_carkit_7130e.pdf">http://support.vzw.com/pdf/BlackBerry_carkit_7130e.pdf</a>
Audi document: <a href="http://www.audiusa.com/etc/medialib/cms4imp/audi2/aoa/company/owners.Par.0016.File.pdf">http://www.audiusa.com/etc/medialib/cms4imp/audi2/aoa/company/owners.Par.0016.File.pdf</a>
The Audi document says that the first model year to support the BB7130e is the 2007 (which I have). The Verizon document says that the BB7130e does Phonebook transfer et al with the 2005-2006 A3/A4, but does not mention 2007.
sigh. At this point I'm wondering if it is worth the headache to call either party.
