Default Would you buy an AMI with your next A3/A4/TT/R8?

Let's see if this question gets any feedback:

Who would buy an Audi Music Interface (AMI) like device for his A3/A4/TT/R8, either with the RNS-E, BNS 5.0 (Europe) or any of the new II+ generation radios?

The AMI got pretty good feedback when released for the A6/A8/Q7 MMI systems. But there is no word or even rumor that Audi is working on something similar for the low end cars including the R8 and TT MKII. All current head units support an AUX audio in. And via CAN, an AMI could be realized just like the SAT receiver solution in the US.

So why does Audi miss this oppurtunity to show Vorsprung durch Technik even in the lower end volume models? Why do they Never Follow when competitors offer CD text and fully integrated iPod solutions for quite a while now?

I would be willing to pay $400 for a fully integrated iPod/USB solution that is controlled via head unit, just like the AMI.

Any comments?

Default In the R8 and TT MKII probably 5-8 years

In the A3 at least until 2010, just the A4 is about to get updated to MMI in 2008. And all the current radios would support this as well.

I just saw a R8 in person today in Hannover, Germany. Pretty freakin' sweet ride.

You have aftermarket option and it much cheaper that you think:

The Connects2 USB Interface plugs directly into the back of your existing car stereo and allows you to connect any portable audio device e.g. USB disk, IPod, Minidisk, CD Player, MP3 Player.

List Price: $225
