xpost: Time to pay the "Knowing Robert" tax
I am riding the MS150 and I am being forced to ask people for donations.
You can give me money to pass on to the MS Society which will go towards research and stuff to benefit those with MS. Go here to donate online (And it is tax deductible)
Or you can donate to our team. Monies donated will help pay for; gas for the SAG (support) vehicle, entry fees, trips to Bermuda, etc.
Contact me (robertr_at_fitnesssolutions.net) and I will make arrangements to pick up any and all team donations.
So put a crowbar to your wallets and pony up some green. All the while thinking of me in tight spandex

And....
if you can fork over $300 to our team, it will get your name/company log on our team jersey. If you can do $1000 I will put your name/logo on our SAG vehicle for the duration of the race and our training rides.

My grandmother has MS as well
The idea behind the race is to raise money for MS research. Will it directly benefit my grandmother and your dad? I doubt it. But with 10000 riders raising at least $300, it goes a good ways towards providing funds for research.
I guess the way I look at it is there is a familial component to MS, so there might be a benefit for you or I or our children.

Way to go and good luck!
I rode the Houston to Austin MS150 the last three years in a row and love the hills in Beuscher and Bastrop State Parks. I'm too house poor to donate $$ or fix my broken bike this year, but hope to do one of the less-crowded rides next year. Have a great ride!

Last years Houston/Austin ride saw 10,000+ riders, which raised over $6,000,000...
...that money goes to things like research, equipment, literature, counseling, financial assistance, education, etc.
It's a two day 180 mile bike ride from Houston to Austin, and riders need to raise at least $300 each n donations from sponsors.
If you're not able to ride or sponsor, they need about 2500 volunteers too.
Incredible event to be involved in...I highly recommend it.

Dropped? I was, uh...hanging back for the newbie...
Cant't say I'm still riding, because I just dusted off the bike last night (literally) and hit the trainer. Heart rate was through the roof, but it felt good to get back on the bike. Will probably hit my first training ride this weekend at West Oaks Mall.
How about you? Where are you at with riding?
