Default "Help Stuck in 4th gear"

Has this happened to anyone? I was shifting through the gears and ended up in 4th. However, I could not shift out of the gear. It just stuck there, no matter how often I applied the clutch. Finally, when I came to a stop, I was able to forcefully pry it out of the gear. I smelled some burning after having to get the car moving in 4th gear. After I got the car out of 4th, I took it out again to see if the problem was fixed, and the car shifted smoothly. Any suggestions, and is it possible some bad damage may have occurred. I have only had the car for 3 weeks. Thank you.

No suggestions but do you have a 5 or 6 speed transmission?

Hate to say it, but it sounds like a bad synchro or bad gear oil.

No real damage, but if you "smelled some burning", you put about 3-500 miles on the clutch disk!:-)

Default I had the exact same problem...

I have a 2000 180 FWD that I bought in May of 99. I had the tranny seize in 5th while trying to downshift coming into a toll station...lotsa fun!! I was able to forcibly move the gears as well, but I had to get the tranny replaced to 100% fix problem. This happened with 1700 miles on the TT. I now have 25k miles and no more tranny problems, since the replacement.
