Default 180 noise over 55

Anybody heard a strange noise from the right side at speeds over 55. Sounds like a bearing or catalytic converter but I can't be sure. Before getting the 2 to 3 week lead time appointement @ the dealer, thought I would check.

Thanx to the loyals.

Default How far to the right side?

The cats are directly below your shifter! The car has two of them.

You can see them in this picture under my car. The cats are right before the pipes goes back to one pipe. The muffler jack is right infront of the cats.

Can you describe a more pin point area of the noise? As you can see, not too much is underneath the car.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3285"><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/ttsig.jpg" BORDER=0 alt="Click for Mods"></a>

Default It seems to be from the rear quarter !

I have tried listening from the passenger side while having someone else drive. It has been really difficult to pinpoint but annoying as hell. It doesn't sound like metal on metal more like something being pushed around by the wind. I have checked under the car and there doesn't seem to be anything loose.

It is quiet below 55.

Default Does it sound like a rattle?

If it does, then it is the privacy screen that hangs from the hatch to cover the trunk area. Remove it then drive around.

The provacy screens that come with the cars are "defective" in this way. Tell your dealer that yours is rattling and he wil order a new one. It has something to do with the glue inside coming loose and rattling around or something like that.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3285"><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/ttsig.jpg" BORDER=0 alt="Click for Mods"></a>
