Default 2002 Audi TT -- help!

I was hoping I could get some expert advice since I'm not that car savvy. Can someone please help? (sorry for the newbie post)

I'm looking to buy a used Audi tt (2002), and I was wondering if I can get some reviews on the Reliability and Durabilty of this car. The asking price from a 3rd party dealer is $22k.

41,000 miles
225 hp, 6 speed quattro
silver coupe, immaculate interior, 2 tiny dings on the exterior
leather heated seats, xenon lamps,
Basic audi sound system (the numbers are worn off/scratched off - only flaw in interior)
Test drove it and it seems fine.

Also, he is resistant to the idea of me taking it to a 3rd party mechanic before I close -- he wants the mechanic to go to the showroom instead. It's under warranty, but should I insist on taking it to a mechanic before closing?

Finally, he wants to sell me a warranty from $1,000-2,000. Is this worth it, since it's under the audi warranty? I can always buy one later (at 55,000 miles or so), right?

Email me at David_ISC_99@yahoo.com if possible... or reply here. Thanks, I would really appreciate the help!

If it's under existing warranty, OK. Get the extended warranty. Drive

Default Doesn't it seem strange, though...

That he doesn't want me to take the car off his premises to get it looked at by a mechanic?

Can I wait until later to buy the warranty?

I have a 2002 and have had no problems. Seems a lot of bugs were worked out by '02.

I think this is a very cheap price -- blue book says 27k.
