225 Borla exhaust question

225 Borla exhaust question
I'm looking at upgrading exhaust, and was wondering how the Borla exhaust on the 225 sounded. I heard it was a little more quiet than other brands which is what I want. Is it too loud during highway driving? Should I look at a different brand? Thanks for the info!

Re: 225 Borla exhaust question
I have a Borla dual outlet on my 180TTQC (it utilizes the same resonator and muffler as the 225 - except the intermediate pipe for the 225 is slightly larger).
I was concerned about the same thing. I didn't want droning or buzzy exhaust, especially while cruising on the highway. I've had the Borla installed for over a month now, and it's everything I was looking for. It's got a smooth, deep note while accelerating, but when you're off the throttle, it's as quiet as the stock exhaust. Idle has a deeper resonance, but it's only discernable if you're listening for it.
Plus, the power increase was significant, not dramatic, but significant.
I agonized long and hard over the Borla and the Forge-Milltek. I'm sure the F-M system is excellent, but I'm also 100% happy with the Borla...plus I love the polished, rolled-tip, slight oval-shape tips of the Borla system.

I am very happy with mine and my buying reason was the same as yours...
... it provides a much improved sound without being intrusive. And the price is hard to beat compared to the alternatives. The weight savings over the stock unit is astounding.

I rarely listen to the audio anymore...
... that's how much I like the sound. My wife loves it as well. It might be peculiar to a few of the units, but the resonance at 3000 rpm is pronounced, especially on lift-off... but I rather enjoy it.

Re: 225 Borla exhaust question
Mine generally sounds great, but the fit was terrible (tips hung low and crooked in the rear valence. I went to a custom shop and had the tips re-aligned, and it now looks good. There is however, a strong resonance in the 3K-4K rpm range when off the throttle--it's somewhat annoying on long highway trips.

Info. on 'fit'
On the contrary, I installed the exhaust myself and found the fit to be about 95% correct when I bolted it on and hung the system the first time. With 15 minutes worth of hanger adjustments, the tips looked great, and there was about 1/2 inch of space around each tip in relation to the rear valance exhaust cutouts. All systems usually require hanger adjustments to get it right...this is the 4th exhaust system I've installed, and that's the case every time...especially if you're a perfectionist, and I think we all are
