Default 225 Custom exhaust

Had a new exhaust custom made about a month ago by a local crew here in Sydney, they specialise in WRX (the REAL Rex not what U get in USA) and "Hot 4's", have made plenty of A4 systems too. He used my car as the prototype. System is basically straight through as the resonator has been removed and large diameter (close to) 3" pipe used to replace the squashed triangle under the haldex. Then a large stainless oval muffler is fitted in the rear with the single input pipe splitting into the two outlets. The rear outlets are slightly larger in diameter and fit into the cutouts better than the originals. The outlets have a perforated inner lining. At idle it is HEAPS deeper yet not loud. Inside the car you can now hear the exhaust, yet again it is not loud. Only at the "magic" 3000-3500 RPM does the system sound loud with a droning especailly under load, say going up a hill. Also on a closed trailing throttle (when the DIS shows 0.00l/100km or 0 mpg) there is a drone, but not unpleasant. At high revs there is a slight raspiness which I like (still not loud). I initially was reserved in that removing the resonator and having a straight thru muffler would have made the car too loud, however apart from the drone at 3,000 I am REALLY pleased with the system. To the untrained eye the car looks stock, however the muffler integrates better into the rear of the car (you can just see the polished stainless muffler) and the dual tips look "meaner". Performance wise it is hard to judge as I started using 98 Octane (only just now available in Sydney, previously our "Premium Unleaded" was 95 RON) fuel at the same time. Combined with the denser fuel the car runs MUCH smoother, starts pulling earlier (below 2,000) and now revs out to redline very easily. The snatchiness in trying to launch quickly from the lights has disappeared completely, now I can hammer away on the Green and smoke the lot of 'em (except GT3s, M3's, Rex's, etc maybe the MTM or Abt chip will cure this?)

If you enquire at the link below, ask for Lambros and tell him Cameron sent you, Denim Blue 225 quattro.

Lambros Mufflers

Default From all of us in UK, Oz, Japan and NZ, how do you say youv'e never heard of a WRX?

Larry,
The little Subaru has practically dominated the motoring press here in Oz since 1994. It has been pitched against 5 litre (308 c.i) V8's, 5.7 litre V8's, Porsche 996 Carrera 4's, TT225's, you name it. And by the way it has come out on top in all these showdowns. It has won the "Bang for your Buck" title every year, our "Fast Four" magazines are full of them......the Rex is a modern classic, a UK car mag named it Car of the Decade. I tried hard NOT to buy a Rex for the last couple of years, the TT is a Rex with beautiful clothes.

WRX in Australia

Default It is NOT offered in the US . . .that is why I had not heard of it! :)

The Imprezza is offered here, not the Rally version of it, which I believe the WRX is. Am I right?
