Default 225 vs 250

So i need to get around to test driving the 250..but..

pardon my ignorance, but it's my understanding that only the 225 turbo is chipable for an end result of bumping up HP..Since the 250 doesn't have turbo can it be chipped and/or bumped up? if so, by how much (i realize it's still fairly new so that kinda info may not be out yet)

Default Giac's chip for the 2.8 adds about 10-12hp, so won't be much more for 3.2

if you're going for sheer hp, the 1.8t will always win. but the sound and eagerness of well done all motor setup is very, very cool as well. be aware that the all motor expense will be more than that of the 1.8t. spending the same dollar on both will yeild more power gains from the 1.8t also, it's a turbo. i'd be guessing saying the 3.2 with cams, intake, chip, exhaust will be about 290ish. adding a chip, intake, exhaust to a 225 will be about the same, but no cams were put in there. torque would be about 270ish where the 1.8t would be 320.

Default Well torque with the DSG will be the limiting factor but....

in the UK already with just a chip + exhaust (no cams or intake) they have it up to 270-280hp and about 260-280lbt.

Consider this (on pump gas) the chips for the 225s make about 265 (max) <I said pump not race> so you're looking at very close numbers. Then throw in throttle response (no lag on the 250) and things begin to get interesting.

Ask Garry about it, he might of missed the first light but I don't think he missed the 2nd

Default UK tuner AmD seems to have done the most work with the 3.2 TT...

They are also coming to the U.S. FWIW. Follow the link to see some of their 3.2 enhancements from the UK market.

AmD Tuning

Default I bet you can get a 3.2 up to 300+ Hp without much of a problem ...

with new headers, maybe a freer flowing exhaust, camshafts and a chip.

Default What is the torque limit of the tranny? 350N-M (258ft-lb)?

I thought that was one of the negative aspects of DSG: relatively low torwue-handling capability.

Default Same 350nM as the 02M six speed, in fact.......

DSG shares alot of the same internals as the 02M 350Q
