Default 2nd time, both fuel sending units bad, Audi offers 75/25 split of cost

I had my fuel sending units replaced on 3/25/04, then I noticed I was getting a fualty fuel gauge reading again in late Feb 2005. I went to the stealership on 3/12/05 and informed them of the problem (still within the 12mo/12,000 mi warranty) They scheduled my appointment for May 5th, claiming earliest date available, Audi claims they will only pay 75% of cost to replace both sending units as I am now out of the warranty, stating that informing them back in March cannot be considered as I could have driven to another dealership for an earlier appointment to have it repaired within the warranty timeframe. However the only other dealership also did not have any openings until late April and the third dealership is 80 miles away, which I have had bad service with.

Does this seem like a reasonable response by the Dealer/Audi rep? They tried to use the excuse that they couldnt make the appointment any earlier due to the high volume of sales and limited repair bay space. Had they had an appointment availble within the week that I asked for it, they would have repaired at 1005. They also stated I had to decide today to accept their offer (take it or leave it strategy) and that if I called AOA and tried to get the full 100% of the cost paid, they most likely would cancel their good will gesture of paying 75%.

Should I just be happy with the offer or continue to pursue 100% payment by AOA?

Default Sounds like strong arming to me.

They should pay 100% since you made the appointment while the TT was under warranty.

To tell you that you should have taken the TT somewhere else during the warranty timeframe is ludicrous. They should have informed you that the May appointment would cause you an out of pocket expense. You can't read minds. Or can you? ;-)

Default Call AofA anyway. This is your last warranty service...

No need to play nice anymore.

Default BS. Tell them 100%, or you'll see them in small claims court. Document all time...

spent on it, especially time off work, and claim that too. After your victory, you'll take out a classified ad giving notice of their (now legally decided) fraudulent behavior.

I wouldn't pay them a penny. They should take care of this and I wouldn't let it slide.

Find out who your area rep is from Audi. They can be helpful.

Default Audi replaced 6 in my car.

After that they replaced in instrument cluster, still had faulty readings so they took it all apart and found where the wires were crimped during assembly. They figured this short was the real culprit for the 3 years of senders. After this was fixed I had no more problems with the gas gauge.
