Default 5 weeks later... need an entire new engine :(

Just got off the phone with Audi... after replacing the oil jets, gaskets, new head... the knock is still there... The tech informed me that the piston that had gone w/o the oil for so long had basicly been destroyed, and took the block with it.

I just quit my full time job to go back to school 1 week before all this went down... NO WAY in hell I can afford a new motor now

Default sorry to hear that :-(

i'm sure an indy shop can find you a used motor in good condition. definitely get a second opinion before you start swapping motors though. if you do need a new motor, you may also want to check out the vortex classifieds and Shokan.

if you're near NC and decide you want to do any of this yourself, I'd definitely lend you a hand. Good luck.

Default Sounds like a story to me. it does not take weeks and weeks>>>

To figures out that the piston took out the block. Thats something that SHOULD have jumped out at them when they had the head off. My guess is they FKED your car and are trying to cover their a$$.

Just my feeling, Nathan

Default I've got that same feeling...

I don't know how they could have missed that.

I've decided I'm not going to make this a "do it yourself" kinda thing. I just started going back to school so time and money are an issue. I'll probably just let the stealership fix things. I'm in the Cincinnati Ohio area, for those who asked.
