ABS/ESP lights on

Hi! The ABS and ESP lights came on my 2001 225 coupe. It happened while I was on the highway and wasn't doing anything funny. Turning off and on cleared them but they came back after a while. It is quite intermittent and I did not see anything on the VAG-COM when they were off. Should I wait for them to come up again and scan while they are on or there is something tricky I need to do with the scanner. I am using 409-1 Ross-tech scanner.

Yup, you need to scan the car when the abs/esp lights are illuminated. My guess is that it is the g251 longitudinal sensor. Apparently these sensors commonly go. My 2001 I just bought 2 months ago has the same problem, I too had a tough time tracking it, just carry the computer in the car and plug it in when it illuminates, or when you come home leave the car running and plug it in. My money is on the g251 sensor though.

Did you get the car aligned recently? If so, you might just want to get a steering angle sensor calibration done.
