Airbag Light
Got an issue on my 2001 TTQ that I don’t seem able to solve. It’s the airbag light. It’s on when I start the car for the first 1-5 minutes and then it will start to flicker and go off. After driving and parking, if I start the car again right away the light goes off like normal, but if the car sits for like 20-30 minutes and then I start it the light returns. My issue here is that there are no codes, pending or present, in any of the systems. How does one diagnose such a problem? I checked the connections under the seats, and they seem fine. The battery and alternator are new, and I verified proper voltage for both.

This would be a very hard problem to diagnose since the tt has side airbags.. So you have quite a few things that could go wrong. Having said that I would change the airbag module out. Only because it’s the only thing I can think of that would possibly cause those symptoms.

There has to be a code generated triggering that instrument panel light. What are you using to read codes?
Also keep in mind, 18 year old air bag assemblies may have reached the end of their useful life.
