Alignment question
I was thinking about alignment specs, in relation to tire width. If you have a fairly narrow tire, you could probably get away with a more extreme camber w/o really obvious tire wear, right? Now, what about 245 or 255 width tires? The same setting as the narrow tire is now putting much more load on the edge of your tires, most likely making them wear funny, correct?
Is it common, or at least make sense to adjust your alignment specs when you start putting wider tires on?
What numbers would you recommend for a 245/40-18?

Think about it.. If you are off by only 1 degree the tire leans out by less than 1/4 inch
In keeping with your theory you'd have to lean the tire considerably more to lift enough off the road. And when you corner, you actually change the camber as the tire and suspension loads up.
The tire sidewalls are flexible. The contact patch of the tire is going to stay in contact with the road by roughly the same amount despite the camber. Sure, you could radically change the camber, but that isn't even realistic.
