Are all automotive detailing claybars created equal?
I'm afraid my Zaino claybar has seen it's better days. I looked at my local auto parts store and their selection was pathetic. I think the only claybar they had was some kind of Mother's or Maguire's...and it was part of some overpriced "system" for like $40.
Does anyone have a source for few good pieces or cheap clay?
Thanks

they're not the same
but chances are you'll be ok with most reputable clays. Detailer's Paradise (run by an audiworlder), has a couple available, but they're not listed on the website. Email Nick@DetailersParadise or post over on the Auto Detailing forum for the exact product info.

there are differences in how 'aggressive' the clay is..>>
and, of course, quality
I picked up some Meguiars clay on sale (the 'mild' one) and it works great.
some tips:
-don't use the whole clay bar at once
-if you ever drop the clay bar throw it out!
-many detailing sprays work great for lubrication but i found that spraying soap solution (as was recommended to me once) can give you spots as it dries
cheers

There are differences in ease of use as well
The Meguiars bar tends to be sticky and grabby requiring more lube. The Mothers bar is quite stiff and hard to tear and fold. The Claymagic bar which you can usually find at autozone pretty much splits the difference. Works well, easy to tear and fold and is relatively inexpensive. I've got a couple bars in the garage.
