Alternative chat host discussion
I am proposing that we dump Yahoo for chats. It's just too damn unreliable lately.
I am looking for a suitable easy to use chat host. I personally would prefer something 3-D Avatar based like Worlds.com. What do you all think?

There is already a TT Owner's Club set up at TalkCity
Any thoughts on TalkCity? The interface looks a lot like Yahoo. I gave bogus registration info and they took it fine, too.

TT Owner's Club on TalkCity

I used to use Worlds.Com a long time ago
I am talking about 8 years ago, I even started with their alpha.net project where you can build your own home, etc.
I love the place, but have not been there in a long long time. I was always impressed on how fast it was since it was 3D, even back when I was on a 14.4 modem.
Wow this brings back memories, I still remember my first website: CyberSite, doubt they are still around. But I give my vote for worlds.com as long as we do not have to pay.

Me too! It seems that it was about 1994 when I used it because my roommate
and I were rendering new avatars on our 486's (hey we had a Math co!) with a hacked copy of 3DStudio and sending them to the Worlds people.
Yep, 14.4 modem, 16 bit internal baybee!
For those that don't know worlds.com is a chat system where you walk in a 3D world with other people represented by 3D objects, animals or people. There are multiple environments. Somehow it works well over a modem, too. The client software is freely downloadable and is either 10MB or 5 depending on system configuration. I'll have to check if there is a Steve Jobs version.

Steve Jobs version! HA!!!
Never heard that one before, I hope you don't mind if I use it myself. :-)
I was using the Worlds.comback when they had just started up, within a month or so. A friend sent me the link. The Alpha World was neat, since you could model a home, or business in the world, if you knew VRML you could build just about anything. It was a neat idea, but I think it went under.
