Default annoyed... in limp mode

I was chipped with an APR chip for my 180 and I also did the modshack stage III and Defi D boost guage. Well after being chipped and boostmachined I was spiking around 21 psi or so. Then it got hot and I went into limp mode spiking at 15 with the boost machine all the way open. I had a talk with the guy that installed my chip and he told me to unscrew the battery connection cables and touch them together off of the battery and that should clear the code without have to use the VAG-COM. So I do this and now my radio displays SAFE and it will not turn on. WTF!?!? I looked through my manual and did a search and couldn't find anything. Anybody know what is going on?

Oh and after 4.5 clockwise turns on the boost machine I am now only spiking at 11!?!?!? grrrr

I don't think it it is leaking because at idle I am at -25 or so

thanks for your help

you need your radio code to get it off of safe. there is a seperate little book for the radio.

Default the radio will go into safe mode when it loses power (ie unplugging the battery)

there's a procedure in the manual for the radio for clearing the safe mode. Hopefully you've got the 4-digit security code to unlock it otherwise you'll be off to the dealer.
It's almost always a better idea to read the codes instead of clearing them first. Now you've got no record of why the car wasn't running correctly and it's still not fixed.

Default yeah I asked the APR guy if it was a good idea to do what he was suggesting...

he said as long as it isn't a check engine light then this procedure will work fine.

Default First of all, Turn the boost machine off.....>

CW on the relief, CCW on the regulator. Don't keep twisting the ***** when you have a problem. That'll really screw with the computer. You'll need to clear the codes and start over on that. I do not recommend you run 21psi on a 180 either....

Alson an ECU reset like you did will not clear stored codes...You need to physically clear them with a VAG..

Default yeah I mispoke..

After my car went into limp mode I turned both of the **** back to close and kept them that way. Today after talking to the APR guy and doing his procdure to clear the limp mode I turned the regulator 4 turns and only drive 3 miles and It was spiking I believe at 11 staying around 8 or so.

Default OK.....Plus..>>

you didn't hit limp mode....Limp is 5 PSI and VERY noticeable. Sure you're not dealing with a heat soak problem? Running at 21 PSI through the gears will really shut things down on a 180. Not sure that wasn't just the ECU doing a pull back from the excessive heat..

Default if heat soak is the case....

how is that corrected? I read everything you had to say about proper boostmachine settings and with the heat it was spiking at 21 and staying at 15. Then the next day it was spiking at 15 and staying at 11...
