Another Non-IMMO cluster question.. just bought a new cluster from the dealer>>
...the new cluster is still sealed in box, part# 8N1-919-930-BX
My question would be: regardless the mileage resetting matter, is the cluster a plug-n-play?
Does it need to reprogrammed or coded whatsoever?
Seems like it's a plug-n-play through <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1583448.phtml">this thread</a>
I just want to make sure before i do anything.
I've got a 2000 180 without IMMO.
Can I skip the VAG-COM and just use it right away?
<a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/Non-Immo-cluster-swapping.html">Ross-Tech Instruction</a>
Thanks in advance for any inputs!!
p.s. the dealer charged me $200 deposit and said i'll have to turn in the old(broken) cluster to get my money back, can they do it?

Needs to be done and programmed by a dealer or similar shop...
not for the weak or unsophistacted. If you screw up the mileage setting process, you get to buy a new one - again.
Dealer is a good option - especially since you don't seem to understand how tricky this could become.

Dealer can pull the data>>>
regardless...to reset the ODO via an authorized center, they need to contact Audi to set it..pretty extensive process.
You can use VAGCOM...but if you screw up the cluster, you are SOL on the part...

Say if i don't do anything>>
(programming/coding etc), is the cluster gonna work? e.g. running and with the mileage counting from 0?
Ughh!! Just a thought though
it's illegal =(

2nd. I looked into having an experienced indy shop install the cluster...>>>
and they said that the TT's cluster was the only Audi model they couldn't install. They did one and had to take it to the dealer to get it programmed... Something about a special tool the dealer has.
I know several here have successfully replaced their cluster so I'm not sure what the real deal is... FWIW.
